Yacht Masters

It’s been a pretty busy week with the Academy, doing our YachtMaster theory exams, a VHF radio course, first aid course and a full day of fitness testing! This has unfortunately meant there has been no time for sailing.

However I did manage to get a cheeky little session in the Solent with Tom on Saturday. This turned out to be really useful as we saw a range of conditions, starting off in 6 knots and the breeze steadily building to 27knts, at times. We managed some pretty good downwind practice, with lots of gybes , sets and drops and some pretty fast runs at the end!

This week we’ve been hitting the Solent on a small yacht as part of our YachtMaster practical prep. For this we’ll stay on the yacht all week, cruising around piloting in to small ports and harbour around the south coast. It should be a pretty fun few days just sailing around…. a bit different from anything I have ever done before, so I am looking forward to it. I’m even taking a chess board to play in the evenings!
