ROBERTS MOVES UP TO 12th OVERALL AFTER LEG 2

Alan Roberts moves up to 12th in the overall standings after finishing 22nd on Leg 2 of the La Solitaire URGO Le Figaro after facing some challenges on the 535nm course which saw the skippers spend 3 nights at sea from Kinsale, Ireland to Roscoff, France which started on Sunday.

Roberts started off well and conquered tough conditions that faced the fleet along the South Coast of England on Monday night, seeing gusts of up to 37knots. He had water coming in through the foil hatches as well as the engine but still managed make gains into the top ten or eleven, he said ‘It was hard to stand up onboard in the gusty and choppy conditions’

Disappointed to loose places in the latter part of the leg, Roberts still has the top ten in his sights only 42m 36s behind tenth placed Morgan Lagraviere and 55 minutes behind Justine Mettrauxand and he has no intention of giving up ‘Anyone can crash out, it’s never over until it’s over and I’ll keep fighting until the end.’

With two more legs to go Roberts is in contact with the top ten with Leg 3 is set to start on Sunday 16th June at 1400 local time, the skippers will be doing a 450nm loop towards the South Coast of the UK departing and returning to Roscoff.

Adrien Hardy, FRA, wins leg 2 closely followed by Yoann Richomme in second and current overall leader of the race and Xavier Macaire takes third place.
